misunderstood. overlooked.

mental illness: it includes your emotional, psychological and social wellbeing.

Affecting how you think, behave, handle stress and it affects your overall look on life linking in with who you are as a person.

mental health to me is important, its vital and there should be more urgency to it. All my life, I had been told to suck it up, push through, keep going - especially in the working industry. I want to say that you can control your mental state but I believe the only thing we can do is manage it. There is no world where someone is 100% happy all the time, but I also believe that we can be at least 70% most of the time.

There are hundreds and thousands of books, articles and stories surrounding mental health but the truth to me is that there is no book, article or story that can explain your mental health. Understanding what you need relies entirely on what you know about you and what you know about mental health.

now I'm no psychologist, I didn't study it in school and I cannot give my professional opinion or treat conditions because thats not in my scope of practice nor am i qualified to do so. But I can encourage individuals to take the time to learn about their mental health and push them towards methods that can help improve their own mental health just a little bit. I'm doing that through my massages and my meditation sessions.

To me, mental health is just as important as someone's physical health - they are interconnected with each other more often than one might think. This is through the nervous system, it's why when you're sad you can feel it in your chest, you get tired and your body feels heavy. Stress causes acne, body aches and pains, etc. These two parts of the human body constantly influence each other, changes in one often lead to changes in the other.

This one time, I was at work and started showing symptoms of a stroke and I couldn't feel half of my body. After being taken to the ER, I learnt that I had a stress stroke - not an actual stroke but I had been so severely stressed that it had mimicked a stroke.

Mental health is such an important part of my life and there are so many ways to maintain and manage your mental health. Meditation, Mindfulness and Manifestations have helped me significantly, after beginning this journey of my life I had started being told about how much I have changed, matured and how well I hold myself together in conflict, I didn't share my journey with anyone but they had noticed a difference, especially in my mental health.
